So it turns out that we can use Pine natively on the Mac. I'm not sure why this is so neat, but the lovely wife and I just spent ten seconds reminiscing about when the internet first showed up (as far as we knew), and everyone used Pine on a unix terminal for email and chat on a unix terminal for what later started to be called instant messaging. Pine was great (I used it through 2000), but chat was a really rude app: among other things, it completely hosed the pine session of the person with whom you wanted to start chatting, text spewing all over the console. After the ten seconds remembering old comm programs we rubbed our heads in disbelief that we had had a conversation about old software. We are old.
